The 2026 PSLE Oral Examination began on 12 August 2026, with Primary 6 pupils across Singapore sitting for their English and Mother Tongue oral examinations.
For all our parents and pupils preparing for PSLE English Oral Day 2 and future oral examinations, understanding the types of questions asked on Day 1 can provide useful insight into how pupils are expected to express an opinion, elaborate on ideas, draw on personal experiences and respond thoughtfully.
According to student recollections circulating after the examination, the 2026 PSLE English Oral Day 1 Stimulus-Based Conversation centred on the broad themes of playgrounds, leisure time and whether children today have sufficient time to play.

What Were the 2026 PSLE English Oral Day 1 Questions?
The three questions we gathered were:
Question 1:
Is this a good place for people to spend their time? Why or why not?
Question 2:
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Question 3:
Do you think students nowadays have enough time to play? Why or why not?
Although these questions may appear straightforward, strong PSLE Oral responses require considerably more than simply answering “yes” or “no”.
A pupil should be able to develop multiple relevant ideas, explain each idea clearly, support opinions with examples and personal experiences, and reflect on what can be learnt or improved.
