Pri 1 & Pri 2 September Holiday Programme

I Can Write. Read My Story. From Ideas to Sentences. From Sentences to Stories.

“I don’t know what to write.”

“My child has ideas, but can’t put them into sentences.”

“How can I help my P1 or P2 child write better?”

Writing does not have to feel overwhelming. With Strong writing starts with knowing how to think, organise and express an idea clearly.

This September, give your child the foundation to become a more confident writer and speaker with our Creative Writing & Oral Holiday Programme specially designed for Primary 1 and Primary 2 students.

Through guided, age-appropriate activities, your child learns how to move from ideas to sentences to stories with more expression.

Learning Outcomes

WRITING SEGMENT: Build Strong Writing Foundations

  • Generate ideas independently so they know what to write
  • Turn ideas into clear, complete sentences
  • Expand simple sentences with actions, feelings and descriptive details
  • Build a stronger vocabulary and use creative phrases naturally
  • Develop characters and settings that bring a story to life
  • Plan a story step-by-step with a clear beginning, problem and ending
  • Connect ideas smoothly so their writing is easy to follow
  • Review and improve their own writing instead of stopping at the first draft

ORAL SEGMENT: Think Clearly. Speak Confidently.

Can your child see what is happening in a picture but struggle to explain it?

Through our Picture Detective series, children learn to look beyond the obvious, organise their thoughts and express their ideas confidently.

Your child will learn to observe, describe, explain and elaborate — using complete sentences, relevant vocabulary and supporting details.

These are not just oral skills. They strengthen the same thinking and language skills children need to become better writers.

Writing and speaking should not be learnt in isolation.

When children learn how to generate an idea, develop it and communicate it clearly, they become stronger communicators — whether they are holding a pencil or speaking aloud.

That is why every lesson is designed to help your child become:

A more creative thinker.

A clearer writer.

A more confident speaker.

This September, Help Your Child Say: “I Can Write. Read My Story.”

Your child will:

•  Learn creative phrases and how to use them naturally

•  Expand ideas into clear, complete sentences

•  Plan stories step-by-step and reflect on their writing

•  Apply MOE-aligned composition strategies

•  Build oral skills through our Picture Detective series

•  Learn to express ideas clearly and effectively

Reviews from Course Participants

Scarlett Cheng

“My favourite story is Father Christmas. We get to act out a skit before we started analysing the characters. During that lesson, I learnt to write something meaningful. Best of all, I could get a lollipop as a reward. This is my third holiday course at Writers Studio.”

James Lew Jia En

“I like to write but I needed to put on a bigger thinking cap. I learnt to make some bends in my story plot. I learnt new ways to write about the characters and what they do in their stories. I could pick up new vocabulary because at every paragraph, we are taught new phrases.”

Kang Yu Cheng

“I enjoy the lessons taught during the Creative Writing Camp. There were so many interesting activities. I remember that we had to wear a face mask with a big nose and act out a character. It makes me think about what the character will say and do in my story. I learn to create new characters in my stories.”
