Our Teaching Standards

Rooted in Standards, Thriving with Care.

We invest in constant refinement of our curriculum,
teacher training and open collaboration with families.

At Writers Studio, our teaching team is carefully and rigorously selected to uphold the highest academic and professional standards.

All teachers hold a minimum of a degree, predominantly in English, Literature, or Creative Writing, and demonstrate a strong passion for creative, discursive, and critical writing. Beyond qualifications, our educators are united by a genuine commitment to nurturing confident, thoughtful, and articulate writers.

From 2026, our teaching team will comprise former MOE teachers or educators who have been specially selected and trained by our Founder, a former Head of Department and Acting Vice-Principal in a local MOE school. With extensive experience within the Ministry of Education — including appointment as a Cluster Research Head for teacher professional development — our Founder brings deep pedagogical expertise and leadership to the programme.

Over the course of her teaching and tutoring career, she has guided thousands of students to achieve distinctions, shaping the teaching philosophy and standards that define Writers Studio today.
Our teachers do not simply teach English — they inspire excellence, precision, and a lifelong love for writing.

Most of our teachers are employees, though we also work with select adjunct teachers who share our teaching philosophy.

  • Teachers must have at least three years of teaching experience before joining Writers Studio.
  • All new teachers undergo structured training upon joining to ensure alignment with our curriculum and pedagogical standards.
  • Teachers must be fully aware of the expectations of PSLEO-Level and IP programmes.
  • Creative Writing teachers must hold a degree related to English, with preference given to those with English or Literature degrees.
  • Secondary school teachers are required to have a qualification in Literature.

For junior students, teachers take extra care to guide both child and parent, offering insights into class mentorship and development.

For graduating students, teachers provide closer monitoring, targeted catch-up sessions, and specialised worksheets to help students secure a good placement in their desired schools.

Writers Studio teachers possess content knowledge, pedagogical professionalism and precision in delivery. They analyse each child’s strengths and weaknesses carefully to design effective interventions. We only work with committed educators who are passionate about guiding students towards excellence, ensuring that every child’s time and investment are well respected.

Since our founding, Writers Studio has grown through the trust and loyalty of our parents. Our founder and staff remain steadfast in upholding the same commitment that built our school: a belief in quality teaching, meaningful relationships, and the success of every child who walks through our doors.
