Our Teaching Standards

The Writers Studio Teaching Team

Led by an Educational Leader

Our teaching team is guided by our Founder, a former MOE Head of Department and Acting Vice-Principal who has spent her career not only teaching students, but also developing teachers. Over the course of her education career, she has guided thousands of students to achieve distinctions, shaping the teaching philosophy and standards that define Writers Studio today.

Having served as a Cluster Research Head responsible for teacher professional development across schools, she brings deep pedagogical expertise and educational leadership to every Writers Studio programme. Her contributions to education was recognised by the Director-General of Education. With Master’s degrees in both Creative Writing and Education, she combines deep expertise in language with a strong foundation in pedagogy. She is currently pursuing a Doctorate in Education, continuing her commitment to advancing teaching practice and educational leadership.

Teachers Who Care About Every Student’s Progress

At Writers Studio, we believe the quality of a student’s learning experience begins with the quality of the teacher.

Every teacher is carefully selected for subject expertise, professionalism and a genuine commitment to helping students succeed. Our teaching team comprises former MOE teachers and professional educators, many of whom hold Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English, Literature and Creative Writing.

Excellence is not a one-time standard — it is continually earned. As Writers Studio continues to grow, we continue to raise the bar. In 2026, we strengthened our recruitment and retention framework because we believe growth should never come at the expense of quality.

Good teachers do more than deliver lessons. They prepare thoroughly, provide personalised feedback, take ownership of every student’s progress and genuinely care about helping every child reach his or her potential.

We appoint educators whom we would confidently entrust with our own children. That is the standard every Writers Studio teacher is expected to uphold.

What does this mean for my child?

Every teacher is carefully selected against rigorous academic, professional and teaching standards.

Comprehensive Training and Mentorship – Every new teacher undergoes structured training and mentoring to ensure consistency in our curriculum, pedagogy and classroom practices. All educators are expected to have a thorough understanding of the academic expectations of the primary or secondary school syllabuses.

A Strong Academic Foundation – Our teachers hold recognised degrees in English-related disciplines, with preference given to graduates in English Literature or Creative Writing. Teachers specialising in our secondary programmes are expected to have formal qualifications in Literature to ensure a deep understanding of literary analysis and critical writing.

Proven Classroom Experience – We recruit educators with substantial experience teaching students in classroom or small-group settings, supported by a demonstrated track record of helping students achieve meaningful academic progress and strong examination outcomes.

Aligned with Our Teaching Philosophy – Most of our teachers are full-time educators, complemented by a small number of carefully selected adjunct teachers who share Writers Studio’s educational philosophy and commitment to teaching excellence.

Reliability Is Part of Great Teaching

We place a strong emphasis on professionalism, responsibility and dependable attendance because consistency is essential to every student’s learning experience. While unforeseen circumstances may occasionally arise, our structured handover and relief protocols ensure continuity of learning with minimal disruption.

Every Student’s Progress Matters

At Writers Studio, every lesson is carefully documented to ensure continuity, accountability and meaningful progress.

Our teachers provide lesson updates, assign and record homework where applicable, return marked work promptly, and maintain organised student portfolios that track each child’s development over time.

This systematic approach ensures that learning remains well organised, parents have clear visibility into their child’s progress, and every student can revisit past work to reinforce learning and prepare confidently for future assessments.

Partnering with Parents

We believe that a child’s progress is strongest when parents and teachers work in partnership. Through regular communication and meaningful consultations, we ensure that every child receives the support they need to thrive.

  • Parent Consultations (By Appointment)
Parents are welcome to arrange a consultation with their child’s teacher whenever they wish to discuss progress, share school work or assessment results, or seek advice on areas for improvement. Meetings are scheduled by appointment, allowing teachers to review your child’s work beforehand and provide thoughtful, personalised guidance.
  • Scheduled Progress Reviews
Twice a year, we meet with parents to discuss each child’s academic progress, celebrate achievements, identify areas for growth, and ensure that home and classroom continue to work towards shared goals.

Every child is known

We believe that meaningful learning begins with meaningful relationships. Our teachers take time to understand each student’s strengths, challenges and learning style, adapting their guidance and feedback accordingly.

No child is treated as just another name on the class list—every student is encouraged, challenged and supported to reach their fullest potential.
