New: Accelerate Your Child’s PSLE Success!

With limited time remaining before the PSLE, avoid a hit-and-miss training approach. This September holiday, we are offering 4 precision training workshops designed to address one of the three crucial components:

Synthesis and Transformation – with a particular focus on transforming sentence structures, indirect speech, active and passive voices, and word transformation. We will train your child to effectively manage sentence variations in this 10-mark section, which has high penalty potential. Understanding these nuances is crucial for avoiding mistakes and achieving better results. Grammar mistakes, missing words, and even a slight error in sentence structure can result in a zero.

Comprehension Cloze – we teach our students across a range of genres, with a particular focus on those that 12-year-olds often find challenging. These are the genres our students are familiar with. If you’re not yet one of our students, this is a great opportunity to learn new techniques. It’s not too late or difficult to pick them up, especially if they will benefit your PSLE performance.

We use a unique set of methods to help your child unlock critical thinking abilities and apply them effectively to passages. Instead of relying on exhaustive memorisation of collocations, our methods will guide your child in navigating challenging questions more effectively. This approach will boost their confidence in handling this section.

Reading Comprehension – we will focus primarily on inferential questions, paying special attention to those with clues that are more challenging to locate in the passage. Our instruction will cover synthesizing information, clue spotting, and developing inferential skills. You’ll be surprised to learn that reading comprehension involves its own unique set of heuristics. When applied correctly, these techniques can help your child advance to the upper bands more swiftly.

We see this program as an opportunity to accelerate your child’s PSLE preparatory progress, allowing you to condense weeks of learning outcomes into 4 days of intensive revision through a smarter learning approach.

Former MOE PSLE English examiners will conduct this course for your child, ensuring that the lessons are both time and cost-efficient for you.

“My favourite story is Father Christmas. We get to act out a skit before we started analysing the characters. During that lesson, I learnt to write something meaningful. Best of all, I could get a lollipop as a reward. This is my third holiday course at Writers Studio.”

“I like to write but I needed to put on a bigger thinking cap. I learnt to make some bends in my story plot. I learnt new ways to write about the characters and what they do in their stories. I could pick up new vocabulary because at every paragraph, we are taught new phrases.”

“I enjoy the lessons taught during the Creative Writing Camp. There were so many interesting activities. I remember that we had to wear a face mask with a big nose and act out a character. It makes me think about what the character will say and do in my story. I learn to create new characters in my stories.”
