December Holiday Programme

Gear Up for the Upper Primary Race

Step Up to Upper Primary with Confidence!

As your child moves from Primary 4 to Primary 5, the leap in writing expectations can be steep. Many students struggle to keep up as stories become longer, plots more layered, and vocabulary more sophisticated. At Writers Studio, we help children close these critical gaps early so they can write with the confidence and clarity expected at upper primary levels.

Through the December Holiday Creative Writing Programme, students will learn to:

  • Structure engaging stories using clear plots, rising action, and resolution.
  • Strengthen language mastery, focusing on vivid verbs, figurative expressions, and purposeful dialogue.
  • Build depth of ideas and reflection, moving beyond simple storytelling to insight and empathy.
  • Develop writing stamina, managing longer compositions with logical flow and emotional impact.
  • Receive detailed teacher feedback that targets specific weaknesses and tracks steady progress.

By narrowing the learning gap now, we prepare every P4 student to brave the challenge in P5, where writing marks count for more and expectations rise sharply. With the right guidance, 2026 can be your child’s breakthrough year in writing success.

How Your Child Will Benefit:

📖 Precision Training by Experienced PSLE Specialists
We combine deep subject expertise with classroom experience to strengthen your child’s foundation and address weak areas. PSLE writing expectations are significantly higher, our teachers are equipped to identify gaps and provide the right guidance to help your child improve.

📝 In-Depth Writing Assessment and Personalised Feedback
Even if your child hasn’t taken a formal creative writing exam, we’ll conduct a diagnostic assessment on Day 2 to identify key issues. Using our in-house rubric, aligned with the latest PSLE standards, we’ll pinpoint language gaps and provide clear, targeted feedback for improvement.

Your child will write one composition per day, each assessed and marked to MOE standards. All tasks are aligned with the weighted assessment formats commonly used in schools.

That’s why our December Holiday Programme is thoughtfully designed to make every lesson count. Through targeted instruction and engaging writing activities, students develop the techniques, confidence, and mindset they need to write with creativity and assurance.

“My favourite story is Father Christmas. We get to act out a skit before we started analysing the characters. During that lesson, I learnt to write something meaningful. Best of all, I could get a lollipop as a reward. This is my third holiday course at Writers Studio.”

“I like to write but I needed to put on a bigger thinking cap. I learnt to make some bends in my story plot. I learnt new ways to write about the characters and what they do in their stories. I could pick up new vocabulary because at every paragraph, we are taught new phrases.”

“I enjoy the lessons taught during the Creative Writing Camp. There were so many interesting activities. I remember that we had to wear a face mask with a big nose and act out a character. It makes me think about what the character will say and do in my story. I learn to create new characters in my stories.”
